A covered pit is hidden near the west doors. A false floor drops a creature standing on it into the canal running beneath this area.

Target: The creature that triggered the trap.Attack: +4 vs. ReflexHit: The target falls into a water-filled canal 5 feet deep and is attacked by a rat swarm.Miss: The target returns to the last square it occupied, and its move action ends immediately.Effect The false floor opens, and the pit is no longer hidden.Countermeasures     Thievery DC 5: An adjacent character can trigger the trap with a successful check. The false floor opens harmlessly, but two rat swarms come up out of the pit to attack.
     Thievery DC 20: An adjacent character can delay the trap for 1 round with a successful check. The floor becomes safe to cross while the trap remains delayed.
     Thievery DC 20: An adjacent character can disable the trap with a successful check. The floor becomes safe.
     Athletics DC 10: A character who makes a successful check (DC 10, or DC 20 without a running start) can jump over the pit.
     Athletics DC 12: A character can climb out of the pit with a successful check.
